A Sunset Love Story at Aylard Farm (East Sooke Park)

There’s something so timeless about a couples session on the rugged coastlines of Vancouver Island, and East Sooke Park might just be one of the best places for it! Between the wild, rocky shoreline, quiet open field, and panoramic ocean views, it’s a location that feels both untamed and intimate, the perfect setting for a couples session.

Endless Fields Worth Wandering Through at Aylard Farm

Before we made our way to the beach, we stopped through the huge open fields by the main parking lot. The tall grass moved gently with the breeze, catching the light in a way that made everything shimmer.

We wandered through the field, hand in hand, completely at ease. There was running, laughter, and quiet moments to soak it all of the moments in. We lucked out with the grass not being too wet for some sitting down shots too!

There’s something so beautiful about these open spaces in East Sooke Park. The way the golden tones reflect off the grass and the sky feels endless. It’s the kind of place where time slows down, and feels like you are in a glimpse of a cinematic movie or your dream Pinterest board.

Golden Hour Planning for this Session

For the session inquiries I receive where there is flexibility in timing, I love to recommend close to or around golden hour for the most even and dreamy lighting. We planned this session to start a little before sunset so we could start with some field photos and still have time to do photos at the beach for sunset. The sky did not disappoint as we received a special evening with cotton candy skies. While shooting on the beach, the sound of the waves crashing and the slight breeze was a subtle reminder of what makes this west coast setting so special.

Why East Sooke Park Will Always Be One of My Favourite Places to Photograph

When delivering a gallery, I am always such a fan of a final product that has versatility. East Sooke Park (Aylard Farm) has exactly that. From the warm browns/greens of the forest above or the blues and greys of the oceans below, its so nice to have both in the same vicinity for ease during a session. There is even flexibility to have an outfit change to offer even more depth in your photos. \

East Sooke Park has this amazing way of capturing the essence of what I love about photographing couples on Vancouver Island. A balanced mix of raw beauty, unpredictability, and emotion. Whether it’s a dreamy couples session, an intimate elopement, dramatic engagement session or just a simple evening spent exploring together, this corner of the island always delivers.
